Elbert Harper Tilton born to Laben Jasper Tilton and Susan Jane Harper on 14 March 1861 in Chana Olgle County Ill. He was the youngest of 10 children. He loved horses and always had a beautiful and well matched team, was well known for his team. He married Bertie Hamilton DeVilbiss in Waynoka Avard Co Oklahoma on 23 November 1895 and then took his wife to Arizona and settled in St. David, Cochise Co. where they bought and worked a farm/ranch. Elbert had four children from a previous marriage and three with Bertie. Elbert was a strict incividual but had a very charitable heart. Even though he never had much he was always helping those who had even less. Elbert and Bertie joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 18 June 1899 and from then forward served as called. They made their home available to the missionaries and had as many as 22 staying there at any given time. He opened his doors to many who were less fortunate without regard for his own needs.
