(4) 1700, 2 Aug: Henry Green of Hampton, New Hampshire, Esq., wrote hiswill. Leaves to son
Abraham Greene his grant of land at a place commonly called the NewPlantation,
one share of the Cow Commons of Hampton, his grant of land at the north
division and the remainder of his piece of salt marsh where son Jacob hashis
30 acres. All in that place above 30 acres he gives to son Abraham. Alsothe
remainder of his pasture land over the Fall River that is not layed outto son
Jacob already.
(4) 1700, 19 Aug: Caveat by Abraham Green, oldest son of Abraham Green,against
the probating of his father's will until he could be present. He wasnotified
by the court to appear 22 Aug, when the will was offered by his brother,Jacob
Green, and admitted to probate.
(4) 1700, 26 Aug: Abraham Green asks for letters of administration debonis
non on the estate of Abraham Green. Not granted.
(1) 1701: Selectman.
(2) 1705, 1 May (3rd mo.): Abraham and Henery Green were among thewitnesses at
the wedding of John Peasley of Haverhill, Massachusetts, s/o Joseph andRuth Peasley, and
Mary Martin of Amesbury, Massachusetts, d/o John Martin dec'd and Mary,at Thomas
Barnard's house in Amesbury, Massachusetts. Also witnessing were Hannahand Joseph Hoag,
Mary Swett.
(1,4) 1717/8, 3 Feb: Abraham Green of Hampton, New Hampshire, yeoman,wrote his will. (1)
Names children Abigail, John, Mercy, Henry, Benjamin, Nathan. (4) Calls
himself very weak in body. Gives to daughter Abigail Johnson 40 pounds tobe
paid within 12 months of his decease. Gives to son John Green a lot ofland
lying by the grass swamp so called and a lot lying by the Hogpen Meadow so
called, and my piece of Marsh commonly called ye Cod, and my piece of salt
marsh lying below Caleb Perkins Nook so called, and also my part of themarsh
which my brother Isaac Green & I used to cut together. Gives to son Henry
Green 6 acres joining as conveniently to my dwelling house as may be toget
there with the House and other buildings & orchard which stands upon theland;
also my new lot so called joyning to the Falls River; also a parcel ofmarsh
which I let out to Ebenezar Gove to mow in the year 1717 (only I reserve
convenient room in my dwelling house for my daughter Marsa Lankester tolive
in during her widowhood; also I reserve a quarter acre of the aforsaidmarsh
for my sons John & Benjamin to spread thatch where they use to improvefor yt
use). In case son Henry should die without any heir lawfully begotten ofhis
body, then his bequests shall return equally among my surviving children.Give
to son Benjamin Green 2/3 of my pasture lands joining to my homestead;also
that parcel of salt marsh which joins on the south side of my brotherJacob
Green's marsh; also what there is more than 2 acres of land within fencewhich
formerly I gave to my son Nathan, I give to son Benjamin on the northside of
the orchard. To daughter Marsa Lankester, gives all the land & marshwhich I
formerly gave to my son Nathan Green (in case he should never returnmore) and
one cow. Gives to grandson Abraham Green a piece of land which is fencedin
adjoining his father's land. Gives to son John a piece of marsh boundedon the
east & north with meadow of Ebenezer Gove, on the west on meadow of JohnGove &
southerly on meadow belonging between my brother Isaacs & mine. Gives toson
Henry Green my part of a lot of upland lying in Halls Farm which belongedto
my brother Isaac & I. In case he died without an heir, it shall return tothe
surviving children. Gives to sons John & Benjamin, whom he appoints
executors, his land in the burnt swamp so called, & also whatever lands &marsh
may or ought to fall to me by my father's will, as also the marsh whichbutts
on the island in Halls Farm, and all my wearinbg apparel to be equallydivided
between them; also my share in the common to be equally divided betweenthem.
Gives to son Benjamin a lot running over the little hill so called, itbeing
the 29th lot in the last west division. Executors to pay 5 pounds towardsthe
finishing of the meeting house. Wits. Jacob Bradbury, Benjamin Fifield,
Jonathan Fifield. Proved 5 Mar 1717/8.
(4) 1717/8, 11 Mar: Inventory of his estate valued at 617.1.0. Signed byMoses
Swett.
