Obit in The Georgetown Times issue May 3, 1935
I found the following obit in THE GEORGETOWN TIMES-Issue May 31, 1935:
Mrs. E. M. Tilton, Sr., age 61, passed away at her home in DeFuniak
Springs, Fla., Wednesday morning, May 23, at
5 o'clock following a long illness. All six of her children were at the
bedside when the end came.
Mrs. Tilton is survived by her husband; two sons, F. O. Tilton of
Charlotte, N. C. and E. M. Tilton, Jr., of Chicago, Ill., four daughters,
Mrs. J. H. Page of Robertsdale, Ala., Mrs. H. G. Wilkinson of Geneva, Mrs.
Frank Hines of Andalusia, and Miss Margaret Tilton of DeFuniak Springs and
three sisters, Mrs. Ella McDonald and Miss Janie Blakeley of Georgetownand
Mrs. Nora Newton of Sampit; and one brother, L. J. Blakeley of PuntaGordo,
Fla.
Funeral services were held May 23 with burial in the Geneva cemetery. Rev.
W. H. McNeal of DeFuniak officiating, with Rev. C. A. Cornell of Geneva
assisting. Mrs. Tilton was a member of the Methodist church.
Mrs. Tilton is known by the larger part of the citizenship of Geneva,where
the Tilton family made their home until about ten years ago when theymoved
to Florida. Mrs. Tilton came to Geneva about 35 years ago when herhusband
was engaged in the naval stores business. Later Mr. Tilton became theowner
of the Geneva and Samson telephone systems.
Mrs. Tilton has many friends in Geneva who will regret to learn of her
passing and deeply sympathize with the bereaved family in their sad
