[p.276] Jonathan Burgess (1761-1853) served, 1777-81, as private,corporal, sergeant, and ser geant major in the Massachusetts Line; wasengaged in the capture of Burgoyne, battles of Mon mouth and RhodeIsland. He was born in Marthas Vineyard, Mass.; died in Vassalborough, Me.
