Nathaniel Emerson, (1741-1824), was a member of the Committee of Safety,and of the conventio n that framed the State constitution. He was at thebattle of Bennington and served in Rhod e Island when the army wascoƶperating with the [p.206] French fleet to expel the British. H e wasborn in Chester; died in Candia, N. H.

Moses Dustin, (1744-95), was the first man to enlist from Candia. Heserved as lieutenant und er Capt. Nathan Hale, and was in command of thecamp at Ticonderoga. He was born in Haverhill , Mass.; died in Candia, N.H.
