Ruth Ann Jewett Tilton died at her daughter, Ellen Tilton Slater's, house in West Cedar Street, Boston. "Mrs. Tilton was conscious of her approaching end for some days previous to her death, and told one of her children that she was never happier in her life than then, surrounded as she was by those nearest and dearest to her. Mrs. Tilton had strong natural endowments, and never failed to enlist the affection and interest of those with whom she was brought in contact." 1888, buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery
