Here is an obituary for Austin TILTON. The 1897 newspaper clipping was found inside an old Family Bible. The Family Bible appears to have belonged to Peter and Mary Ann KOYL of Elgin County, Ontario since their families births, marriages and deaths were recorded in it. Here is a transcription of the obituary:

"TILTON, Brother Austin Tilton was born in Washington Co., Ohio May 10, 1815. He was married to Julia A Pond, Nov. 25 1837, came to Illinois in 1845. To this union were born 13 children, 7 sons and 6 daughters. Five sons and 3 daughters are still living. His wife died April 17, 1864. His second marriage was to Miss Sarah J. Johnson Sept 24, 1865. He died April 25, 1897, aged 81 years, 11 months and 15 days. He leaves a wife, 8 children, 54 grand-children and 35 great grand-children to mourn their loss. He united with the Christian Church about twenty years ago and was a faithful member of the same until the day of his death."

John, his wife Rebecca Terry and their nine children, moved to MonmouthCounty,
New Jersey from Gravesend, Long Island in 1691. Several of theirdescendants
still live in Monmouth County today. John owned 29 acres of land atGravesend in
1683 (he appeared on the tax list). John and Rebecca were stalwartQuakers.
