Source: West Virginians in the Revolution, Johnston, p.276: Enlisted as a spy
in Augusta (Now Harrison Co.,WV), Virginia Unit in 1776. He served under
Captain Lowther at Nutter's Fort, Captain Carpenter at West's Fort and under
Captain Robinson and Captain Booth. He also mentions Isaac Beesley, John
Cutright, Alexander West, andJosephh Parsons among other prominent frontier
defenders. Supporting data was filed by Lovel Corbin and William Wilkinson.
Thomas received a pension in 1833 while living in Harrison Co., WV, but was
dropped from the roll two years later because of insufficient proof of
Revolutionary service.
