LOGAN, OKLA. - Georgia Custer, 89, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, in Booker, Texas. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Booker United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Heart Cemetery in Booker by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Georgia Custer was born Nov. 29, 1916, in Elmwood to Carl and Ruby Yoder Tilton. She attended the Lone Star Country School, later attending high school in Balko. On May 23, 1936, she married Charles Custer in Beaver, and they made their home on a farm in Beaver County. In 1947, they moved to the Logan area, where they started their own farming operation. Georgia loved the farm and continued to live there and remain active in the operation and activities of the farm even after the death of Charles in November 2000. Georgia was very active in her community. She served as 4-H leader and assisted with many projects. She was a member of the Logan Community Ladies Club. Mrs. Custer attended Booker United Methodist Church. In 1977, Charles and Georgia were honored as Beaver County's Farm Bureau Family of the Year. Georgia was known as an excellent cook who also enjoyed gardening, quilting and most of all, spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant siblings; and a sister, Betty Niles. Survivors include three daughters, Elaine Balch and husband Frank of Hydro, Norma Laurie and husband David of Booker and Linda Ray and husband Tim of Shamrock, Texas; a brother, Howard Tilton of Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Dora Jean Hill of Albuquerque, N.M.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
