     OBIT. John G. Bennett, "Oldest Farmer"
John Grant Bennett, 91, honored by the State Farm Bureau in 1957 as "New Jersey's Oldest Farmer" died Sunday (May 29, 1960) in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Russell C. Casler of 1832 Myrtle Ave.
He was last associated with the James P. Hendrickson farm in Holmdel Township near Keyport and had farmed in the Holmdel area for many years.
A native of Middletown, he was the son of the late William C. and Josephine Pratt Bennett. His wife, the late Jennie Truex Bennett, died Jan 29, 1957 after the Bennett's celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
He was a charter member of the Raritan Grange in Keyport and belonged to the Middletown Reformed Church in Middletown.
Mr. Bennett enjoyed a large "open house" party on his 90th birthday on Jan 22, 1959 in the home of his daughter and son in law, Mr and Mrs Casler. He came to live in Plainfield from Middletown 12 years ag
Surviving besides his daughter, Mrs Casler, are five other daughters, Mrs Charles Poole of Holmdel, Mrs Harold Tilton and Mrs Willard McElwain, both of Middletown, Mrs Beatrice Guillaudeu of Long Branch and Mrs Floyd Guillaudeu of Belford; four sons, Harold H. Bennett of Lincroft, Lester B. Bennett of freehold, J. Milton Bennett of Belford and C. Russell Bennett of Long Branch; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Bedel Funeral Home, Keyport with the Rev. Henry W. Heaps, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Dunellen, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
