    DERIDDER — Funeral services for Effie Tilton Merchant, 97, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, in Hixson Funeral Home. The Revs. George Lee Glass and George L. Glass Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Beauregard Cemetery. Visitation is 5-10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Merchant died Sunday, July 22, 2001, in the local hospital. A native of Montgomery, she had lived in DeRidder since 1945. She was Methodist. Survivors include two sons, Everett E. Merchant and Melton Merchant, both of DeRidder; one daughter, Evelyn Merchant Brooks of Monroe; one brother, Odis Tilton of Shreveport; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
