Charles Tilton

ZANESVILLE: Charles L. Tilton, 86 of Zanesville, died 11:15 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Willow Haven Care Center following a short illness. He was born Thursday, September 11, 1924 in Adams Mills, the son of Edgar T. Tilton and Maude A.(Stiner) Tilton. He married Ruth Eloise (Rutter) Tilton on Saturday, March 27, 1948 and was Presbyterian by faith. Charles served his country as a of WW II serving in the South Pacific. He was employed by National Plumbing and retired from Burnham Foundries in 1987. Charles is survived by five sons, Charles (Charlotte) Tilton, Jr., Thomas (Linda) Tilton, Jeffrey L. (Becky) Tilton, Keith (Laura) Tilton all of Zanesville and Norman (Karen) Tilton of Gulf Breeze, FL; one daughter, Diane (Tony) Joyce of Zanesville; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Eloise Tilton on May 20, 1958; and one brother, Russell E. Tilton. Friends may call from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 24, 2011 at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, where Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 25 with Dr. Herbert Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery with VFW Post 1058 conducting Full Military Honors. Published in the Times Recorder on January 23, 2011
