Enoch William Kail, 92, of Carlisle, Iowa died June 3, 2009, at the Carlisle Care Center, Carlisle, Iowa.

He was born in Carlisle, Iowa, on October 17, 1916, one of three children to Everett and Rena Fields Kail.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother Harold Kail, and by Ruth Tilton Kail, his first wife.

Bill is survived by his second wife of 31 years, Virginia Kail; his sister, Phyllis Hagerty of Prescott, AZ.; a cousin, Lloyd Miller of Baltimore and his children, Jeanne (John) Smith of Omaha, Jerrie Pike (Ray Kass) of Christiansburg, VA., Fred (Cheryl) Young of Indianola, Debbie (Ed) Schiller of Norwalk; also surviving are 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Having volunteered for military service, Bill was one of the few remaining WWII veterans, serving for nearly five years. Bill was a member of American Legion Post # 391. When he returned to Carlisle, Iowa, he joined his father at Kail Plumbing and Heating, building the business and retiring in 1980. For 44 years he was a tireless volunteer for the Carlisle Fire Dept. and rescue squad. His leisure time passion was fishing, which he shared with many friends and family. He rarely told a story about the one that got away. His family thanks the staff at Carlisle Care Center and Hospice of Central Iowa.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday June 4, 2009 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle, Iowa, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Peterson Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be in Carlisle {Allen Township} Cemetery, Warren County, Carlisle, Iowa.

Donations may be made to Carlisle Fire and Rescue, Hospice of Central Iowa or Community United Presbyterian Church of Hartford, Iowa.
