born in Hampton Falls, N. H., 17 Nov. 1712, probably married (1) 19 July 1733, Deborah Tilton. He married (2) 26 Oct. 1738, Jane, dau. of Robert and Mehitabel (Leavitt) Row, who was born 9 Dec. 1717. Her tombstone, in the oldest cemetery at Hampton Falls, says, "Here lies Buried the Body of Mrs. Jean Swett Late Wife of Capt. Jonathan Swett, who Departed this Life January 5th, 1751, in the 33rd year of her age." Robert Row's will, 1757, names grandchildren, children of his dau. Jane, viz., Joseph, Josiah, Jonathan, Mehitabel and Sarah Swett. Capt. Benjamin [Jonathan] married (3) Mary Stevens. Mary Steven's will, 1765, names her daughter, Mary, wife of Capt. Jonathan Swett. He and his wife Mary sold land at Hampton Falls 3 May 1768. He may have removed from Hampton Falls. The town records assign seven children to the second marriage and three to the third, but this is evidently a clerical error. Jonathan Swett was Captain in the militia.
