Mrs. Sarah Tilton, wife of Robert Tilton of Lincroft, died on Friday morning of a complication of diseases, aged 46 years. She had been in poor health for the past six years and for eighteen weeks she had been confined to her bed. Last Tuesday night she began to fail rapidly. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon at half-past one o'clock at the house. Rev. W. B. Matteson, pastor of the Red Bank Baptist church, preached the sermon. The pall bearers were William Winters, John R. Conover, Garrett Smock, John H. Patterson, James Byram and Joseph Thompson. The body was buried at Fair View cemetery.

Mrs. Tilton's maiden name was Sarah Fenton. She was born on the Fenton homestead at Lincroft and had always lived within half a mile of the place where she was born. She married Robert Tilton when she was 23 years old. Mrs. Tilton was a member of the Baptist church. She had one child but it died in infancy. She leaves three brothers and three sisters. They are John Fenton, Edward Fenton, Miss Jennie L. Fenton and Miss Josie Fenton of Lincrof; Mrs. Allen Applegate of Nut Swamp, and Frank Fenton of Red Bank.
